Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy and process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Responsible party and Information Officer

2. What we collect

• From your Google sign-in: name, email address and profile picture.
• Records of your acceptance of our Terms (date, version and browser).
• Your account role and basic technical data needed to keep the site secure.
• Booking and payment details are collected by NightsBridge, not stored by this website.

3. Why we use it (lawful basis)

• To create and manage your account and provide our services (contract, section 11(1)(b)).
• To keep records required by law and to protect our legitimate interests, such as security and fraud prevention (section 11(1)(c) and (f)).
• With your consent, which you may withdraw at any time (section 11(1)(a)).

We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for direct marketing without your consent, as required by section 69 of POPIA.

4. Who we share it with

Only with service providers who help us run the site (hosting, authentication and booking providers) under confidentiality obligations, or where the law requires it.

5. Cross-border transfers

Some providers (such as Google and our hosting provider) may store information outside South Africa. We only use providers subject to laws or agreements giving protection comparable to POPIA (section 72).

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections and role-based access, to protect your information (section 19). If a security compromise occurs, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required (section 22).

7. How long we keep it

We keep account information while your account is active and for up to 5 years after it closes for legal and tax purposes, unless a longer period is required by law.

8. Your rights

• Ask whether we hold your information and request a copy.
• Ask us to correct or delete your information.
• Object to processing and withdraw consent.
• Complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforeg.org.za, enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.

9. Children

We do not knowingly collect information from children without consent from a parent or guardian.

10. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the effective date and ask you to accept it again where required.
